Debra
Hendricks

Debra Hendricks is a Love Stanislaus board member where she is able to carry out her passion for giving to her community by supporting and inspiring youth. She began her educational career as a teacher and then transitioned into administration by serving as a principal, assistant superintendent of Human Resources and then as a superintendent. She retired as superintendent of the high achieving Sylvan Union School District, where she led high performance teams for over 20 years.

Debra grew up in Oakdale, CA and moved to Modesto as a young adult. She attended MJC, received her bachelor degree from California State University, Stanislaus and earned a master’s degree of Administration from St. Mary’s College. In 2012 she was honored by ACSA as the Personnel Human Resources Administrator of the Year, she received the Modesto Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education Award in 2019, and the prestigious Bill Ullum award in 2020.

Mrs. Hendricks is currently a consultant and coach working with individuals and teams primarily in the area of professional capacity building. She also is the co-chair for Inspire Youth - Inspire Dreams, which is supported by the Modesto Chamber of Commerce and she is an advisory board member of Make Dreams Real - Boyett Petroleum.

Though her time in education has brought her much fulfillment, her greatest accomplishment is her family. Debra is married to Andrew Hendricks who is a retired Sergeant of the Stockton Police Department. Together they have five adult children and four grandchildren. Debra and Andrew’s hobbies include cycling, traveling, golfing, entertaining and spending time with their family.

Why did you choose to be a board member of LSC?

I chose to be a board member for LSC to be able to support and inspire youth in our community. I believe our youth have the talent and capacity to be leaders in helping to create a healthy community.

What do you love most about being on the LSC board?

The thing I love most about being on the LSC board is the opportunity to give back to my community.

What do you love most about living in Stanislaus County?

What I love most about living in Stanislaus County is the amazing, caring people who serve this community.

In what ways do you participate in the community?

I participate in the community by serving as a board member, volunteering my time to support my grandchildren’s school and events to improve our community. I also support efforts to lift our youth to their highest potential.
