Ken Sylvia is a Modesto/Ceres native and is currently the Executive Director of Youth for Christ. Ken has been working with youth for 20 years through mentoring, workshops, local youth groups, neighborhood ministry, and more. He holds his bachelor’s in business from Stanislaus State, and Master’s in Youth Ministry Leadership. Ken recently published his first book in April 2021. He has been married to his best friend, Tene’, for 13 years. Ken is soon to be a father of two: his son, Gabriel (7), and a baby girl due in May 2022.
Why did you choose to be a LSC Community Advisory Committee member?
I’m a firm believer in the importance of a healthy community, and I see the value LSC has in bringing the broader community together.
What do you love most about LSC?
LSC spurs community members on to love their neighbors and provide good works.
What do you love most about living in Stanislaus County?
It’s big enough, and small enough. It’s always been home.
In what ways do you participate in the community?
I’m a member of Ceres Rotary Club, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, attend Ceres Christian Church, and serve youth and families in a variety of ways through Youth for Christ’s programs & ministries.
