Reading & Writing Tutor for Adult Learners

LearningQuest

About the Role

Organization Name:

LearningQuest's mission is empowering adults through educational services and improving self-reliance for the family.

Do you love to read and/or write? Would you like to share your passion by teaching someone how to read? Volunteer tutors work one-on-one to help adult learners improve reading and writing skills - many students are below 7th grade literacy levels.

Your Safety: Tutoring takes place via video conferencing or at the Stanislaus County Library in Modesto between 8am and noon, and they will provide all of the safety precautions: face shields, hand sanitizer, face masks, directional walking paths, and physical distancing.

Requirements

Must be 18 or older;
Able to communicate in English;
Able to commit to a minimum of 6 months to meet with an adult learner twice a week (60 minute sessions);
Participate in our tutor training (prior to becoming a tutor).
All tutoring supplies and training are provided for this six (6) month commitment both tutors and students make to each other.
