Tara Sugirua

Tara Sugiura was born in Mountain View, California and was raised in between the bay area and Stanislaus County. From a young age, Tara knew she wanted to live a life of service to others. During her school years, Tara was involved in student leadership and was able to grow that ability while on staff at Big Valley Grace Church. It was there that she found a deep faith and love for serving others.

She has been able to get to know members of the community through serving coffee at many of the Modesto Starbucks locations and found her passion for human connection. It was the company mission that became her own; to inspire and nurture the human spirit- One person, one cup, one neighborhood at a time. Though Tara now works in the fitness industry, she takes the value of human connection everywhere she goes.

Why did you choose to be a board member of LSC?

I believe in the mission and values of LSC. I have had a great desire to serve our community in larger ways and feel that is possible through the LSC board.

What do you love most about being on the LSC board?

There is much wisdom, humility and experience to be gained by being on the LSC board. I want to learn and grow alongside each of these people. And it is very fulfilling to know I am contributing to the greater good of Stanislaus County.

What do you love most about living in Stanislaus County?

I love that anywhere you go in Stanislaus County, there is always a small town feel. People are friendly, kind and open. I have found that we have a community of people who want to come together to impact the county not for just right now, but for the generations to come. That is a daily encouragement to me.

In what ways do you participate in the community?
