Why did you choose to be a LSC Community Advisory Committee member?
I am honored to be a part of the Love Stanislaus County Community Advisory Committee, driven by a deep-rooted commitment to fostering positive change within our community. The organization's mission, centered around uniting communities through volunteerism, resonates profoundly with my values. By participating in city-wide volunteer days like Love Modesto, Love Waterford, and Love Oakdale, I aim to contribute meaningfully to the betterment of Stanislaus County. Additionally, as a member of the Community Advisory Committee, I bring a passion for community development, a dedication to service, and a belief in the transformative power of collective action. I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals, leveraging our diverse skills and experiences to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in our community.

What I love most about Love Stanislaus County extends beyond its organized events and initiatives; it's deeply rooted in the organization's core values. The commitment to collaboration resonates with me, as Love Stanislaus County actively engages congregations, nonprofits, businesses, and community members, emphasizing that serving together is the most effective way to create lasting change. The value placed on community reflects a genuine desire to unite people from diverse backgrounds for a common purpose, fostering a sense of togetherness that goes beyond volunteer activities. The incorporation of faith adds a profound dimension, drawing inspiration from a higher purpose and guiding the spirit of service. Moreover, the unwavering commitment to diversity and equity stands out, recognizing the importance of meeting individuals where they are and appreciating the unique starting points of each person. The emphasis on integrity aligns with my own values, highlighting the significance of doing what is right over what is comfortable. What do you love most about living in Stanislaus County?
Malia serves in our community as the marketing and events coordinator for the Stanislaus Youth Empowerment Program. She is thankful to be a part of the YEP team because it aligns with the passions she attains in her personal life. In her free time, she gathers people and helps create safe spaces for individuals through the projects she leads. In everything she does, Malia seeks creativity and community. She is actively bringing people together through her projects @209faves, @209checkin, & @da.book.club! These can all be found on Instagram.
Living in Stanislaus County is a unique and enriching experience that I cherish for several reasons. First and foremost, the sense of community here is unparalleled. The county's diverse tapestry, embracing various cultures, backgrounds, and traditions, adds a richness to daily life that I truly appreciate. The abundance of natural beauty, from scenic landscapes to parks and outdoor spaces, provides a constant invitation for exploration and relaxation. Additionally, the strong sense of local pride and the community's commitment to service make living here incredibly fulfilling. There's a palpable warmth and authenticity that defines life in Stanislaus County, making it not just a place to reside but a true home where shared values and a collective spirit contribute to a vibrant and welcoming community.
In what ways do you participate in the community?
In my efforts to actively contribute to the community, I have taken on a proactive role in organizing and hosting various community events. These events are designed to bring people together, fostering a sense of unity and creating opportunities for meaningful connections. Additionally, I am deeply committed to supporting local businesses, particularly small enterprises, by utilizing my skills in marketing.
I have undertaken the responsibility of promoting and marketing small businesses within the community, helping them gain visibility and reach a wider audience. By doing so, I aim to stimulate economic growth within the community and contribute to the success of local entrepreneurs.
Through these initiatives, my goal is to not only enhance the social fabric of the community but also to empower and uplift local businesses, creating a positive and sustainable impact for the greater good.
